Truth and God, anything in common ??

India's motto is "Truth ultimately prevails" (Satyam eva jayate). Truth will always win, so the best thing is to stay with truth.

There is no proof that Truth will always win. Do you think it is important to stay with truth??

When we had faith in GOD, we thought we are being watched by some force above and that we will be held accountable by GOD for all our actions, before or after our death. That made us stay with truth. Now we know there is nobody watching us and our life in this planet is very short and there is no life after death.

Like in believers, there are few who do good in the name of religion, live a pious life and are happy with it, when these people are in trouble, they think there is a GOD who will save them, the faith keeps them goin, the faith helps them overcome their misery, the faith does them good, the faith upholds truth.


And there are others who do stupid things in the name of GOD or religion, who always think that their GOD is superior, the other GODs are evil, they indulge in violence, cheat people for their selfish needs, some blindly believe in GOD and do things so silly.

The so called people with reason always blame religion and GOD pointing fingers at the second set of people.

Are we wrong if we appreciate the people who believe in GOD and lead a pious life? I don't think so.

I may argue that I don't need a GOD to tell me what is right and what is wrong !! but what makes me believe that truth will eventually win when there is no such law scientifically or logically established ??

Existence of GOD and ultimate triumph of truth are essentially beliefs from which the believer derives solace and strength to wade through the mundane as well as complex problems that he faces in his journey of life. There are very many who survive without clinging on to these beliefs and have faced their problems in life.

Those who believe in GOD are not cowards and those who don't aren't wise and courageous either.

I think it is very similar to the hypothesis that if every one follows traffic rules, there will be less accidents. Being truthful is a way of adhering to some commonly agreed principles so that our life is easier. In that way "satyameva jayate" means truth will always be triumphant in giving all of us a better life.
